Quick answers
Common questions
If you're unsure where to start, your steward or area office can help guide you through your options.
What is the duty to accommodate?
Employers must accommodate workers with disabilities to the point of undue hardship— including changes to duties, schedules, equipment or workspaces.
Do I have to share a diagnosis?
Usually no. In most cases you only need to share your functional limitations and the supports you need, not detailed medical information.
What if my employer says "we can't"?
Contact your steward or union office. The union can help review the situation and support you in addressing the issue.
Need help now?
Contact your steward or area office for workplace issues. Not sure who your steward is? Check your worksite bulletin board, ask a coworker or contact your nearest area office—they can connect you with the right person. If you're unsure who to reach, email [email protected] or call 604-291-9611 / 1-800-663-1674. All messages are responded to within 24 hours.
